Our Story

Bubble Hut Café first opened its doors on May 28th, 2021, with only five employees. Somehow, with a total of three shaker cups, one blender, two half-empty tea canisters, and the mad scramble of staff who had no idea how to make boba, we were able to handle the huge waves of people who wanted to try our drinks. That first summer, with a broken AC unit and creativity gushing like an overflowing boba pot, we struggled through what is now known as the “Boba Boom.” We never would have made it through that exhausting but exhilarating summer were it not for the dedication of the owner/managers Jon, Si-Mun, and most of all Shannon Tang.

The Tang Dynasty

The Tang family is one of young entrepreneurs. Si-Mun with Mobile Fusion; Kate and Amanda running The York, Shotties Night Club, and 10th Ave. Candy Store; Jon and Kootenay Tint and Wrap; and of course, Shannon Tang with Bubble Hut Café. What’s truly amazing, though, is that all of them began their separate journeys under the age of 30. Learning from first-hand experience and each other, the Tangs have managed to carve out a spot for themselves in Cranbrook and keep it. Despite the struggles, the Tang dynasty is thriving and continuing to grow.

While we have your attention, we would like to thank our amazing staff. None of this would be possible without people to carry it out. They work hard to make Bubble Hut what it is (amazing), and we could not be more thankful for all the unique individuals that give Bubble Hut its personality.

Also, have you met Benji the Boba Bear? He recommends the lavender milk tea with blueberry popping and the tofu bahn mi (he struggles with chopsticks). You should try it sometime!
