Who We Are

Located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Ktunaxa Nation, Bubble Hut Café is a Métis woman-owned business bringing specialty drinks to the beautiful Kootenays.
A Brief History: The Boba Boom
Cranbrook’s first bubble tea shop, Bubble Hut Café, opened its doors on May 28, 2021, under the passionate ownership of the Tang family. With a vision to share their love for the chewy, sweet, and refreshing drink that originated in Taiwan, the Tangs quickly turned their shop into a local favorite. Known for its wide range of flavors and customizable toppings, the shop also gained fame for its lovable panda mascot, Benji the Boba Bear. Benji, often spotted in promotional materials and the occasional in-person costume appearance, became a cheerful symbol of the shop’s fun and welcoming atmosphere.
After a year’s hiatus from March 2024 to March 2025, Shannon Tang and her sister, Rosie, reclaimed ownership of the shop, bringing back not only their signature recipes but also an upgraded version of their beloved mascot – now named Benjina George. Blending the charm of its original roots with lessons learned during its brief hiatus, the shop once again welcomes both old friends and new fans through its doors, always with a warm smile and the ever-adorable Benjina George by its side!
